Vehicle Import Tax Status (T1,T2,Blanco,DGT)

A vehicle import Tax registration tax code will be placed on the left side of your vehicle registration document. This information identifies the import tax status of your vehicle, determines if taxes have already been paid on a particular vehicle. There are several vehicle import tax status codes in Belgium: T1, T2, Blanco and DGT

Please select the following that refers to your scenario.

T1

Imported vehicle from a non EU country. T1status vehicle is kept as long as the vehicle is not sold and regularized.

T2

Imported vehicle from an EU country without tax paid. T2 status is kept as long as the vehicle is not sold and regularized, but after 36 months the regularization is free.

Example: If the buyer purchases a T2 vehicle that was owned by the seller for only 12 months, the buyer and seller must agree who will pay the remaining 24 months of vehicle  import taxes on this particular vehicle.

Unless: It is determined that the buyer will keep the T2 status on the vehicle, then neither the seller or buyer will have to pay the remaining vehicle import taxes.

Blanco

Taxes paid (vehicle is regularized)

EU countries: If vehicle import taxes have already been paid, it is not required to pay vehicle import taxes again.

A T2 status regularized

A T1 status regularized

DGT

If your vehicle was purchased more than 6 months before your arrival to SHAPE and it has more than 10,000 km, you have already paid the taxes on this vehicle in your country. You will receive a DGT status indicating import taxes paid. You have to keep this vehicle for a minimum of 12 months.
