More Job Losses, Carrefour

French retail group Carrefour announced that it is going to close 21 supermarkets in
Belgium by the end of June, leading to the loss of 1,672 jobs. Remaining Carrefour employees in
Belgium should see their wages reduced and lose certain fringe benefits. Workers of numerous Carrefour supermarkets have spontaneously gone on strike to protest against this decision.
