Bulbs to Bloom at SIS Elementary
Tuesday, November 24, 2009 - antosh
SHAPE American Elementary Section joins over forty schools around the world this week in planting over twelve hundred tulip and daffodil bulbs while partaking in the Daffodil and Tulip Project.
After observing, comparing and dissecting the bulbs, students will take the air and soil temperature on planting day. They will post the weather data and our school's longitude and longitude online. After analyzing the other schools information, students will predict when the bulbs will begin to grow and bloom for each school.
Students will share photos and participate in video teleconferences with other students. Participating schools are located in the United States, Turkey, Slovakia, Uganda , United Kingdom, Israel and numerous other countries. The Daffodil and Tulip Project encourages students around the world to think globally and act locally.
Thanks goes to the SHAPE Parent Teacher Student Association (PTSA) for funding the purchase of the bulbs.
