SELLING A VEHICLE

The seller has to visit the offices indicated below (together with the Bill of Sale and the original registration- parts 1&2) by booking an appointment in the following order: 

1. VAT Office (Bldg. 210 Room 103), asking for a 'De-registration Document';
2. SHAPE Customs Office (Bldg. 210 Room 111A) for verification;
3. SHAPE Registration Office (Bldg. 210), for deregistration of the sold vehicle. The rear plate must be relinquished at this stage. 

Above mentioned offices will stamp and sign the Bill of Sale. 

Documentation to be delivered to the buyer:

1. Bill of Sale: must be completed and signed by both buyer and seller. 
2. Original registration document (both parts)
3. Original Certificate of Conformity (if applicable)
4. Controle Technique (CT): the seller's vehicle must pass a "Controle Technique" before the sale regardless the vehicle's age. This CT is valid only for 60 days. If you do not sell the vehicle within 60 days, you will need to pass another CT. The CT station will provide you with a package of documentation including:

.  Demande D'Immatriculation (pink single page document)

. Certificate de Visite (must be green-single page document) valid for 1 year

. Rapport Occasion (2 pages document). This document certifies the general condition of the verified vehicle.

. Car Pass (single page document)

Since 1st January 2023 a seller's CT is also required for motorcycles, tricycles and quadricycles with the following technical specifications:

. Cylinder capacity >125 cc

. Equipped with electric or hybrid engine with power > 11kW and which maximum speed is > 45 km/hour.
